Language in Public

Q The purpose of this Discussion is to discuss how language is used in public. I want all of you to address and discuss the following questions: • Watch the news and find an example of someone using inappropriate language. Why did the speaker use inappropriate language? How could the speaker have prevented the use of inappropriate language? • Watch a presidential press conference or a political speech. Identify the uses of imagery. How did the imagery help the speech? Can you think of other ways the speaker could have used imagery? • Why is inclusive language (language that acknowledges diversity, conveys respect to all people, is sensitive to differences, and promotes equal opportunities) important to use when addressing an audience? Provide examples of inclusive language. Remember to provide your answers to each of the above questions as well as respond to someone else's post, too! When you are ready to participate in this Discussion, be sure to click on the Reply button below. This topic was locked Nov 15, 2021 at 11:59pm.

I was watching Gaby Petito's case on YouTube. There is a BroadCast page that Fox News used to complete her report. Unfortunately, the reporter used inappropriate language when referring to Brian, Gabby's fiance. The reporter said ¨ his guilt did not let him live in the final if he killed himself is what that bastard deserved. Although he may be the culprit, I don't think it was appropriate to express himself that way in front of the viewers. Often there are children, and in the same way, the family may not blame but have feelings.
